THE ILLUSTRATED FIELD GUIDE / PAIRS

Remember where a shape belongs.

Every shape has one matching partner. Turn two cards at a time and remember their positions. Matching cards stay face up; different shapes turn back over. The small practice boards below show three pairs; the real Easy boards begin with six.

01

Turn one card, then another

Six face-down practice cards with the first card turned over to reveal a circle.
The first card is a circle. Where is its partner?

Choose any face-down card to reveal its shape. Hold its position in mind, then choose a second card. You cannot pair a card with itself. Revealing the second card counts as one turn, whether the shapes match or not.

02

Compare the two shapes

Two small examples: a pair of circles marked as a match, and a circle with a triangle marked as different.
Same shapes stay open. Different shapes turn back over.

If both cards show the same shape, they remain face up as a match. If they differ, the game holds them open for a moment, then closes them. Wait for that comparison to finish before choosing another card. There is no turn limit.

03

Make a quick mental map

A practice board showing all six shapes during a peek, with a counter changing from three peeks left to two.
One peek reveals the remaining cards; the counter falls from 3 to 2.

Try remembering a shape with a location: “triangle, top right.” When you see its partner, return to that position. Peek briefly reveals all unmatched cards; each attempt has three peeks. Using one reduces the counter, but does not add a turn.

04

Find every matching partner

A completed six-card practice board with two circles, two triangles and two leaves, each matched pair marked with a check.
Three pairs found: this small practice board is complete.

Keep matching until every card is face up. Easy has six pairs on twelve cards, Medium eight on sixteen, and Hard ten on twenty. Restart lets you try the same arrangement again with a fresh turn and peek count.

THE FINISH LINE

What counts as complete?

Reveal every pair to finish. The counter shows matched pairs and total turns. Matched cards and your turn count save; a single currently open card is temporary and closes when you leave.

ONE TO REMEMBER

A common wrong turn

The partner can be anywhere on the board. Cards do not need to touch, and they are not removed when matched. A faded, checked card is already matched and cannot be chosen again.

AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Controls & a little help

Tap or click a card, or use Tab and Enter/Space. Once two different cards are open, wait for them to close. Peek is available when no unfinished pair is open, and can be used up to three times per attempt. There is no timer, score penalty or limit on ordinary turns.
